GENERAL PURPOSEUnder general supervision; receives and routes incoming calls and greets visitors to City Hall or other City sites; provides general information and assistance to the public; performs routine office support functions, including word processing and filing; and performs related duties as assigned.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICSOffice Assistants are responsible for answering and referring all incoming calls on the City's general telephone lines, for greeting visitors to the City's main offices, providing them with general infor mation and directions and for performing routine office support functions.
Office Assistant is distinguished from Senior Office Assistant in that incumbents in the latter class perform more difficult and specialized clerical and office support functions for a specific department.
MISSION STATEMENTThe mission of the Community Development Department is to facilitate development and promote a secure community with the implementation of planning, land use, building safety, beautification, animal service, and community enhancement policies within the City of Moreno Valley in order to provide a quality, well-planned, safe, and desirable living and working environment for its citizens, now and in the future.
ABOUT THE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENTThe Community Development Department (CDD) provides a variety of development, business and property owner services.
CDD administers development review and project entitlement activities, performs long range planning, and maintains the City's General Plan.
The department also performs building plan review, issues various permits and performs inspections for new and altered projects.
CDD manages a comprehensive community enhancement program that includes nuisance abatement, and parking control among a host of other services.
The department oversees the full service operations for Animal Services including animal care, adoption, and public safety.
THE CITYMoreno Valley was incorporated in 1984 as a General Law City, merging the communities of Moreno, Sunnymead and Edgemont.
The City operates under a Council-Manager form of government.
The City Council is comprised of an elected Mayor and four Council Members elected by district.
The City has a committed customer-service oriented workforce comprised of more than 450 employees who provide a wide-range of municipal services including Public Works, Economic Development, Community Development, Parks and Community Services, Financial and Management Services and Library services.
The City contracts with Riverside County for Police and Fire services.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
